Coles and Foodbank join forces to fight hunger in South Australia
A new landmark initiative by Coles and Foodbank will make it easy for South Australian shoppers to help feed local families who struggle to put meals on the table.
Coles supermarkets throughout South Australia will offer customers the opportunity to buy food donation cards with values of $5, $10 or $20, which will fund much needed food items for Foodbank’s warehouses and food hubs providing a range of breakfast, lunch and dinner foods reaching those who need them most.
Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation and in South Australia, it provides more than four million meals annually through a network of charity partners as well as school breakfast clubs and Coles has been a major food and grocery donor to Foodbank for over 10 years.
South Australians are encouraged to look out for the food donation cards when they’re doing their food shopping at Coles and think about those who would otherwise go without.
The donation cards will be displayed on stands inside Coles stores and then scanned at the checkout and the donation added to a customer’s grocery bill.
